The Challenge
Mental health support services are vital, but establishing dedicated local provisions on Anglesey required both funding and high-visibility community engagement.
Conwy Mind possessed the established "Mental Elf" festive fun run model, but the initiative had yet to be brought across to the island.
The objective was to adapt and launch Anglesey’s inaugural Mental Elf event in December 2025—creating an accessible, family-friendly event immediately following a Saturday parkrun. The goal was to raise essential funds to directly help Conwy Mind establish local mental health support services on Anglesey, while negotiating lower ticket entry prices to ensure financial accessibility for local residents.
The Approach & Solution
Leading the project end-to-end on behalf of Môn Actif, a multi-faceted approach ensured the event was cost-effective, safe, and engaging:
- Strategic Partnership & Pricing Negotiation: Collaborated with Conwy Mind to expand their flagship event to Anglesey, successfully negotiating reduced ticket pricing compared to standard Conwy events to lower financial barriers for local families.
- Route Planning & Safety Compliance: Designed, mapped, and fully risk-assessed the event route, establishing robust safety protocols for participants of all ages and fitness levels.
- Omnichannel Marketing & Promotion: Drove community interest using targeted online campaigns (via social media and digital channels) and offline promotional materials across local networks.
- Volunteer Leadership & On-the-Day Logistics: Recruited, briefed, and managed the volunteer team, oversaw course decoration for the festive theme, and coordinated event logistics immediately following the morning parkrun.
- Event Execution & Media Coverage: Managed live site safety, maintained event operations, and served as the event photographer to capture media for post-event reporting and future promotion.
The Impact & Results
The inaugural event successfully established a foundation for expanded mental health services on Anglesey:
